He wasn’t ready to buy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least that’s what he told himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He wanted to do more research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Compare more locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Talk to more people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Save a little more money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Maybe next year,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The following year, the land had nearly doubled in price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, that conversation still comes up whenever we meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not because of the money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because of the regret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And that is something we rarely talk about in real estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most people assume the biggest risk is buying the wrong property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In reality, the biggest risk is often doing nothing at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not because every piece of land is a good investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not because everyone should rush into property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But because time has a way of moving whether we make a decision or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The family that owns a rental apartment today once stood exactly where you are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investor receiving monthly income from tenants once had doubts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The parent who can comfortably tell their children, “This land belongs to us,” once wondered whether it was the right time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nobody starts with certainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
People start with a decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Years later, that decision becomes a story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A title deed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A rental unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A family home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A source of income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What fascinates me about property is that it is never really about property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A piece of land is just land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What gives it meaning is what people attach to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For one person, it is freedom from paying rent forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For another, it is a retirement plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For someone in the diaspora, it is proof that home is still home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For a parent, it is something their children can inherit long after they are gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most successful investors I have met are not necessarily the richest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They simply understood one thing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The future rewards people who prepare for it before everyone else sees it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That does not mean buying blindly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It means asking better questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What kind of life am I trying to build?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What opportunities will exist five years from now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What assets will still matter twenty years from now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Where do I want my family to stand when that future arrives?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Real estate is one answer to those questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not the only answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But one of the few that you can stand on, walk through, develop, lease, pass on, and see with your own eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The best investment is not always the one with the highest return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes it is the one that gives you peace of mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The one that allows you to look ahead with confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The one that transforms uncertainty into possibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And often, that journey begins with a single conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not a sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because the goal has never been to buy land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
